City's odds have been cut in half to win the full thing
Manchester City have been cut into favourites to win the FIFA Ultimate QuaranTeam Championship, following a flurry of bets.
After it was announced that City’s professional e-sports player, Shaun Springette, AKA MCFC Shellzz, was representing them – a whopping 41% of all bets have backed City.
That’s resulted in bookmakers cutting their odds accordingly, with their price slashed from 16/1 into 8/1.
In turn, that means they’ve leapfrogged previous favourites Roma (9/1) and Sheffield Wednesday (11/), and jump right to the top of the market.
Another Premier League side in the shape of Watford follow next at 14/1, with rumours wither of the ‘Hashtag’ duo that play for the Yellows, playing in the tournament.
Having an established e-sports setup, Ajax are the next most likely to win the competition at 16/1, followed by French outfit Angers (20/1) and Millwall (25/1).
Man City’s representative has been in the FIFA scene for a number of years since he burst onto it back in FIFA 17 where he unfortunately lost in the final of The Championship Series against the current world number 1 ‘Vitality Rocky’.
After his emergence on the scene he then teamed up with another big name in FIFA e-sports, ‘Huge Gorilla’, to form the first UNILAD FIFA e-sports team until making his move to Man City in late 2018. He is currently ranked 63rd in the world on PS4.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “Manchester City aren't the sort of club to spare any expense - whatever field it may be in.
“Their e-sports team is certainly no exception, with MCFC Shellzz very much at the forefront of the FIFA community. But with such high expectations, can City's much-fancied representative deal with the pressure of favouritism?”
