The Brazilian had a medical at White Hart Lane before joining the Blues in 2013
On the 25th of August, 2013, Willian completed a successful medical with Tottenham Hotspur and looked dead set for a switch to the North London side.
However, a last gasp £30m swoop seen the Brazilian head to Chelsea, and would see him go on to play 226 games for the club.
Seven years later and it’s roles reversed – with Spurs now shock favourites to sign the winger this summer.
In the last 24 hours, Tottenham have been cut from 6/1 into 7/2 favourites to add Willian to their ranks before 1st September 2020.
That’s due to a high percentage of bets on Jose Mourinho’s side signing the 31-year-old, with 62% of all bets in the market over the last week all backing Spurs.
Elsewhere, it’s North London rivals Arsenal who are second-favourites, with Mikel Arteta’s side 5/1 shots to sign the Brazilian this summer.
Manchester United are sorely lacking experienced pros and are penned as 7/1 third favourites in the market behind Spurs and Arsenal.
That’s the same price as Willian’s former club Juventus, who are also 7/1. Barcelona follow next at 12/1, then comes Borussia Dortmund (16/1) and AC Milan (16/1).
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “‘Chelsea fans are renowned for their fantastic: ‘The sh**e from spurs, They bought his flight, But Willian, He saw the light' chant, but if bookies are correct, they might not be able to sing it next season.
“Spurs have pulled into a commanding position at the bookies to sign the 2X Premier League winner, in what would make for a delightful end to the 2013 medical saga.”
Willian's club after 1st September 2020:
Spurs - 7/2
Arsenal - 5/1
Manchester United - 7/1
Juventus - 7/1
Barcelona - 12/1
Borussia Dortmund - 16/1
AC Milan - 16/1
