Bundesliga odds: Who is the favourite to win the German league?

Bayern’s lead isn't insurmountable at the top of the table…

Reports suggest the Bundesliga is set to be the first major domestic league to return to action this month, with German football ready to restart.

A decision is expected to be made tomorrow by the German government, as the country hopes lockdown measures will be eased in some cases.

While most bookies have suspended markets until a restart is officially confirmed, we've taken a look at our odds history to see what the prices were before football was called to a halt.

Who is the favourite to win the Bundesliga this season? Is Bayern Munich’s lead at the top just too much to claw back for trailing teams?

Prices are likely to be different should games return behind closed doors, but this was the state of play.

With the resumption of the league, all teams challenging are on exactly 25 games played with no games in hand.

Bayern (55 points) hold a four point lead over Borussia Dortmund at the zenith of the table, with RB Leipzig just one point further back.

That resulted in bookmakers going relatively strong odds-on 1/5 that Hansi Flick’s team and perennial winners Bayern Munich win the league yet again.

However, it’s not out of sight with 2016/17 winners Borussia Dortmund hot on their heels at 6/1 to claw back the points differential.

RB Leipzig are by no means out of the race, they were available in the betting at 10/1 to win their first-ever Bundesliga title.

Bookies had, however, all but written out Borussia Monchengladbach’s chances of domestic glory, offering 100/1 on them overhauling an eight-point gap.

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “This season's Bundesliga title race is shaping up to be the most exciting in many years, with three sides all in with a very good chance of claiming domestic glory.

"Perennial winners Bayern are naturally the favourites, but the free-scoring juggernauts of Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig will undoubtedly push the Bavarians to the absolute wire - with the latter at 10/1 looking particularly good value."

Bundesliga outright market:
Bayern Munich – 1/5
Borussia Dortmund – 5/1
RB Leipzig – 10/1
Borussia Monchengladbach – 100/1
