Who is the favourite for PFA Player of the Year? Betting odds ahead of Project Restart

There have been a few favourites sitting atop the market

The PFA Player of the Year is arguably the most prestigious individual award a Premier League player can coup, and this year’s contest is certainly open.

There have been a host of favourites throughout the season, with the market leader changing multiple times.

Sitting on top of the market at the moment is Liverpool’s star man this season, Sadio Mane, currently available at the odds-against price of 6/4.

Leading football stats providers, WhoScored.com, revealed that only De Bruyne (14) has registered more assists from open play than Mane (7) in the Premier League this season.

Only Vardy (15) and Aguero (14) have scored more goals from open play than Mane (13) in the Premier League this season.

No player has won more WhoScored man of the match awards than Mane (7) in the Premier League this season.

Only Vardy (32.2%) and Aubameyang (26.2%) have a better conversion rate than Mane (23.3%) of the 93 players to have had 25+ shots in the Premier League this season

And it’s a fellow Red just behind him in the race, with talisman Jordan Henderson the 5/2 second-favourite with the sportsbooks. It is worth noting that the exchange currently has him as 4/5 favourite…

Manchester City are second in the table, but Kevin De Bruyne (4/1) finds himself third in the bookies’ list for an individual player – despite a mercurial solo season.

Last year’s unanimous winner, Virgil van Dijk, currently sees himself as a 9/2 underdog to win the award in consecutive seasons.

Liverpool’s Champions elect season has seen a host of Jürgen Klopp’s side in contention for this gong and its full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold who follows next in the betting at 14/1.

Mo Salah is on the periphery of the betting at 20/1, followed by Jamie Vardy (66/1), Sergio Aguero (80/1) and Roberto Firmino (100/1).

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “Considering their utter dominance this season, it seems the PFA Player of the Year is destined to be a Red.

"Jordan Henderson would be the sentimental choice, but if we're being brutally honest, the bookies have it correct, placing Sadio Mane and his 14 goals at the top of the market."

PFA Player of the Year:
Sadio Mane - 6/4
Jordan Henderson - 5/2
Kevin De Bruyne - 4/1
Virgil van Dijk - 9/2
Trent Alexander-Arnold - 14/1
Mo Salah - 20/1
Jamie Vardy - 66/1
Sergio Aguero - 80/1
Roberto Firmino - 100/1
