Bookmakers have cut odds on the move after several reports of a rejected bid.
Manchester United are now the shortest price they’ve ever been to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. Earlier this afternoon, two bookies cut odds on United from 1/3 into 1/8, while the best price available on them is now 2/5.
This dramatic movement in the market comes after several news outlets reported that Borussia Dortmund had rejected a bid in the region of £89 million for the player.
Sancho to Man Utd has been the transfer saga of the season, and in fact, last season too. Having floated around the even money mark for much of the early part of the season, United have been odds-on to sign the young Englishman since April.
If today’s reports are to be believed, the Red Devils could finally be making their move to bring Sancho to Old Trafford having now secured Champions League football for next season.
There’s no competition in the market according to the odds, with Man Utd’s nearest rivals being Liverpool at 14/1. Chelsea were previously rumoured to be in the running too, but they’re also a 14/1 shot at the current prices.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “It looks like the guarantee of Champions League football might be the final piece in the puzzle for Man Utd’s pursuit of Jadon Sancho.
“With bookies now implying an 89% probability that he makes the move, it’s looking more likely than ever we see England’s most exciting talent in the Premier League next season.”
