The Senegalese winger has definitely made an impression during his first season in England...
Liverpool are now 2/1 favourites to sign the man who derailed their undefeated train back in February, 22-year-old Ismaila Sarr.
Rumours are live in the press this morning that Watford are ready to demand over £40m for the Senegalese prospect, which would be a club-record fee for the Hornets.
Watford brought Sarr from Rennes last summer for £30m and are not going to let the winger go for less than their investment, apparently looking for a record fee in excess of what Everton paid for Richarlison back in 2018.
It’s clear that managerless Watford are under pressure since returning to the Championship after five years in the Premier League, but they’ll be in no rush to sell their record signing.
Crystal Palace are not far behind Liverpool, currently second favourites to attract the winger and available at 3/1.
A move from London to the midlands is also being rumoured, with both Leicester and Wolves said to have expressed interest, both available at third favourites at 7/1.
Sarr caught the eye despite Watford’s eventual relegation from the Premier League, scoring six goals in his first season in England.
A move to Liverpool would be extremely appealing for the Senegalese youngster allowing him to play alongside his fellow countryman and hero Sadio Mane.
With Jurgen Klopp’s track record for developing young players into some of the world’s best talents, there’s no doubt that Sarr would most likely flourish in the coming years.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “The Premier League champions could be a little light up top outside their formidable front three and raiding relegated Watford for one of last season’s brightest talents could be shrewd business.
“Rumours in the press suggest Watford will demand a hefty fee, but the current 2/1 about Liverpool is likely to attract interest from punters given today’s media attention.”
