Reports suggest the West Ham midfielder is nearing a move to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are odds-on to sign West Ham and England midfielder Declan Rice, following rumours of a rejected bid and an Instagram post from John Terry.
The Blues have been odds-on to sign Rice for a couple of months with some bookmakers, but William Hill had stood firm at a best price of 5/4. That price disappeared this morning, and was replaced with 8/13.
This latest movement comes as West Ham dismissed rumours that they had received a £50m bid from Chelsea for their star midfielder, assuring the media he was certainly not for sale.
The 21-year-old spent seven years in Chelsea’s academy before he was released at the age of 14. He’s been pictured with a host of current and former Chelsea players, and the latest of those has sparked fans into a frenzy on social media.
In his latest Instagram post, Chelsea legend John Terry joked about the two of them being a centre-back pairing and referring to Rice said, “Unbelievable player who will continue to get better and better.”
Elsewhere in the market to sign Rice, Manchester United are as short as 4/1 in places, but a best price of 9/1.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “Fans should know better than to read into a player’s activity on social media when it comes to transfers, but there’s no doubt Declan Rice to Chelsea makes sense giving his history with the club.
“West Ham will of course hope he’ll see out his contract, but Chelsea clearly aren’t afraid of flexing their financial muscles since their transfer ban ended. Now odds-on across the board, bookies aren’t taking any chances.”
