Barcelona cut to even money to sign Gabriel Jesus amidst Messi rumours

He could be part of the deal to bring Messi to Man City…

Gabriel Jesus’ odds have plunged on an extraordinary move to Barcelona.

The Brazilian striker was a massive 20/1 on Tuesday to move to Barcelona this transfer window, but his odds have crashed into 1/1 since yesterday.

That means bookies think it is a 50% chance that the 23-year-old will move to Spain, having been just 5% on Tuesday.

Paddy Power reported their huge cut in price on Wednesday.

In the last 24 hours, 80% of bets in the market through oddschecker have been for Gabriel Jesus to move to Barcelona.

Rumours are rife surrounding the future of Lionel Messi, and Jesus could be part of the deal to reunite Messi with Guardiola at Man City.

Messi is currently odds-on to join Man City, so if this were true, the odds being slashed on Jesus make sense.

There are also reports that Jesus is being lined up to replace the departing Luis Suarez, regardless of whether Messi leaves or not.

Jesus is still yet to knock Aguero off number one spot as striker at Man City, and he may feel like he has been hard done by. Could a key role in a new look Barcelona team under Ronald Koeman tempt him away from the Etihad Stadium?

Second-favourites Juventus are now 3/1 to sign Jesus, having been 2/1 before the Barcelona rumours starting circulating.

Real Madrid are third-favourites at 9/2, with PSG (22/1), Bayern Munich (25/1) and Man Utd (100/1) the other teams currently priced up.

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “Messi’s transfer request has sent shockwaves through football, and that of football transfer odds.

“Wherever he heads, there will be a ripple effect, with Gabriel Jesus the latest to be linked.

“Paddy Power reported the movement yesterday, and this definitely seems like one to keep an eye on.”
