Premier League relegation odds

As they prepare embark on their fourth consecutive Premier League season, what price are Brighton and Hove Albion to be relegated? The Seagulls have played some good football under boss Graham Potter, but will that translate to results?

Brighton as long as 4/1 to be relegated

Despite finishing no higher than 15th in their previous three seasons, it’s clear that the bookies are feeling positive about Brighton’s chances this campaign, as the Seagulls can be backed at a chunky 4/1 to be relegated.

The signings of Adam Lallana and Joel Veltman will add some significant experience to the squad, while the contract extensions of Ben White and Lewis Dunk has seen optimism course through the veins of the Amex faithful.

Graham Potter, with a first year of Premier League football under his belt, will be confident he has a side capable of challenging for the top half – although another striker and left-back are still required this summer.

Goalkeeper Maty Ryan is a consistent stalwart of the Albion spine, with the exciting Yves Bissouma likely to make a central midfield position his own in the upcoming campaign, as the average age of the squad continues to shrink.

Overall, despite generally being in the relegation mix since their promotion in 2017, Albion are a side who should be looking up, not down, and the odds reflect this.

West Brom and Fulham big relegation favourites

It’s little surprise to see new boys West Brom and Fulham heading up the relegation market – both priced at 11/10.

The Baggies, under the stewardship of Slaven Bilic, are no strangers to yo-yo’ing between the top two leagues, while Fulham will be wary of repeating their disastrous Premier League campaign of a couple of years ago.

Aston Villa, who escaped relegation by the skin of their teeth last season, are third favourites at 2/1, with Newcastle and Crystal Palace at a slightly larger 5/2.

Who will be Brighton’s top goalscorer?

After an impressive debut season in the Premier League, French striker Neal Maupay is Brighton’s most likely top goalscorer.

The 24-year-old can be backed at a whopping 200/1 to win the Premier League Golden Boot, although he’s as short as 50/1 with some bookies.

Elsewhere in the market, Belgian maestro Leandro Trossard, another who enjoyed an excellent debut season in the English top-flight, is 500/1 for the Golden Boot, with Irish breakthrough star Aaron Connolly also 500/1.

Next Premier League manager to be sacked: how safe is Graham Potter?

Though Brighton don’t have a history of sacking gaffers at the drop of a hat, no Premier League manager can count themselves untouchable.

However, Graham Potter can certainly rest easy for the time being, knowing he has the full backing of the Albion board. Priced at a chunky 20/1 to lose his job first, it’s clear that Potter’s style of football, coupled with his success in bringing some exciting youngsters through to the first-team, has impressed owner Tony Bloom, which makes an early sacking very unlikely.

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson is the favourite to lose his job first (prices ranging from 3/1 to 7/1), while West Ham’s David Moyes is second-favourite at 8/1.

The sack race market is looking particularly open this season, but it would take an abysmal set of results at the start of the season for Potter to be the first casualty.
