With the Jadon Sancho deal looking less and less likely, free agent Edinson Cavani is the latest attacker to be linked.
Bookmakers have slashed odds on free agent Edinson Cavani joining Manchester United, from 25/1 to 6/4. That makes United the favourites to sign the Uruguayan, ahead of Atletico Madrid.
Atleti have been linked with a move for the player ever since his contract expired, and were as short as 8/11 just yesterday. However, since today’s news they’ve drifted to 7/2.
Reports now suggest Manchester United are in pole position to sign the 33-year-old, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer scrambles to strengthen his attacking options.

Their deal for Jadon Sancho is looking less and less likely, and Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus assured the media earlier today that he would be staying for another year. He’s now priced at 1/5 to stay in Germany.
Cavani left Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season as the club’s all-time top scorer, having scored 200 goals in his seven years there.
He was previously linked with both Chelsea and Leeds, but neither move came to fruition.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “It looked almost certain that Edinson Cavani would seal a move to Atletico Madrid, but since they signed Uruguay teammate Luis Suarez, those links have cooled slightly.
“The Man Utd rumours are out of the blue, but the significant market move suggests this could be happening, especially given Jadon Sancho’s odds to stay at Dortmund.”
Edinson Cavani next club odds:
- Man Utd 6/4
- Atletico Madrid 7/2
- Benfica 6/1
- Real Madrid 10/1
- Fenerbahce 12/1
- Juventus 16/1
- Roma 20/1
