That’s despite travelling Scotland being sizable underdogs at the bookmakers, cut from 11/4 into 5/2 as a result of the money.

Tough opponents Serbia are the bookies’ favourite at 2/7, although haven’t been as popular with punters since the market opened.

The hosts are 4/6 favourites to win in 90 minutes, whilst its 9/2 that Scotland qualifies without the need for extra time and penalties.

A host of top players lead the first goalscorer market, with Fulham hitman Aleksander Mitrovic leading the betting at 3/1.

Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic is next at 9/2, whilst Ajax’s Dusan Tadic (6/1) and Lazio’s Sergej Milinković-Savić (9/1) all pose a threat for Serbia.

Scotland’s most likely heroes come in the form of Oli McBurnie (17/2) to score first, then comes Lyndon Dykes (9/1) and Lawrence Shankland (11/1).

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “After their dramatic penalty shootout victory over Israel, Scotland are now within touching distance of the European Championships.

"While Serbia are favourites with the bookies, a one-off knockout contest, behind closed doors, is tailor-made for an upset."

Serbia vs Scotland to qualify:

  • Serbia – 2/7
  • Scotland – 5/2
