Leicester City’s Mahrez was the last winner not from the ‘top six'

Odds slashed from 100/1 to 10/1 on Jack Grealish

Bookmakers have slashed odds on Jack Grealish winning the PFA Player of the Year award, following his scintillating start to the season.

Before a ball was kicked, Villa’s talisman was a whopping 100/1 to win the illustrious individual award.

As of this morning, some bookmakers are now offering odds as short as 10/1. Only one bookie is offering the best price of 25/1.

Over the last two weeks, 7% of all bets placed on the PFA POTY have backed the Three Lions international.

Kevin De Bruyne still favourite for PFA POTY

Grealish still trails the likes of market leader Kevin De Bruyne, who is the 11/2 favourite. Tottenham’s Harry Kane is the next most likely at 6/1, followed by Mo Salah (11/1).

A pair of forwards in Heung Min Son and Raheem Sterling are next in the market at 16/1, then comes Sadio Mane (20/1) and Bruno Fernandes (20/1).

Leading football stats site WhoScored.com revealed Grealish has been fouled at least 52 more times (196) than any other player since the start of the 2019/20 Premier League season.

Only Kevin De Bruyne (156) has created more goalscoring chances than Grealish (110) over the same period.

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: "It was a full debut to remember, as Jack Grealish dazzled for England against the number one team in the world.

"This was a continuation of his excellent form for Aston Villa, and should the 25-year-old maintain his unerring upward trajectory, higher individual honours are very much on the table."
