Sack race odds: Mikel Arteta odds-on favourite to be next manager to leave

Sack race odds: Mikel Arteta odds-on favourite to be next manager to leave

The Arsenal manager is cut from 6/4 into 4/5 as pressure mounts.

Artea cut into odds-on to be next manager to go

Mikel Arteta is now the odds-on favourite to be the next manger to go following another poor performance from Arsenal.

6/4 before yesterday, after losing 2-1 to Everton, Arteta was cut across the board into odds-on. He’s now as short as 4/5.

That is an implied chance of 56% that he will be the next manager to leave their post.

Arteta most backed in market

Oddschecker users think his time may be up too. In the last 24 hours, there have been a massive 81% of all bets in the market placed on Arteta to be the next manager to go.

Since Slaven Bilic was sacked by West Brom, Arteta is also by far the most backed. He’s taken 69% of all bets in that time period.

With Sheffield United looking like they are sticking by Chris Wilder, punters can’t see any other manager being sacked ahead of Arteta.

Arsenal’s woes continue

Arsenal now linger 15th in the Premier League, with just 14 points from their 14 games. An incredible eight loses so far.

Since beating Man Utd on the 1st of November, Arsenal have picked up just 2 points in the Premier League, truly shocking form for a club of Arsenal’s stature.

Every statistic surrounding Arsenal’s season makes for grim reading for Gunners fans.

The situation is looking increasingly dire. The players might not be good enough, but if results don’t improve quickly, sacking Arteta may be the only answer.

The club have to look proactive in trying to sort the mess, and sacking the manager tends to be the first port of call in modern football.

He may only be given a few more games to turn this around. The Spaniard will have to galvanise his squad and show the club he is the man to get them out of trouble.

Elsewhere in the market, Chris Wilder is second-favourite at 9/4, and then Solskjaer at 6/1. The rest of the managers are 20/1 or bigger.
