That's an implied probability of 98% that Steven Gerrard wins the league
Celtic’s inability to keep pace with Rangers has once again affected the Scottish Premiership winner odds, with Steven Gerrard’s side now 1/40 for the title.
A number of British bookies are offering even shorter odds, with Sky Bet among a number of firms offering odds as short as 1/100.
That’s despite Rangers starting the season as 2/1 underdogs to their Glasgow rivals, with the price on winning their 55th league trophy falling week-after-week.
On the other side, Neil Lennon’s (or Gavin Strachan’s) Celtic now find themselves at 20/1 to complete their historic 10-in-a-row season.
Before a ball was kicked, bookies installed Celtic as clear favourites for the Scottish Premiership at as short as 4/11 with some firms.
Elsewhere, Kemar Roofe is the new favourite to finish the season as top goalscorer, cut from 4/1 into 5/1.
Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard is the 5/1 second favourite, followed by Hibs’ Kevin Nisbet (8/1) and Rangers right-back James Tavernier (8/1).
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “Heading into the season, bookies didn’t give Steven Gerrard’s and his side a lot of hope.
“Before a ball was kicked, bookies estimated Rangers had around a 33% chance of winning the league.
"Those same bookies’ odds now reflect a 98% chance of capturing their 55th league title."
- Rangers – 1/40
- Celtic – 20/1
