Eddie Howe’s position as the clear favourite to be named next permanent Celtic manager has been further strengthened, following a flurry of betting activity.
In the last 48 hours, 62% of all bets in the market have backed Howe to be named as Neil Lennon’s successor, sending his price tumbling.
British bookmakers have now cut odds on the appointment from 11/10 into 1/5 at the time of writing.
In percentages, that’s an estimated 83% chance given by bookmakers that Howe will be next in the Parkhead dug-out.

Who are the other contenders?
Hibs manager Jack Ross is the second favourite with most firms offering odds, although is a lengthy price at 10/1.
Ex-Hoops boss Martin O’Neill is 12/1 third favourite, followed by other managers affiliated with the club, John Kennedy (14/1) and Gordon Strachan (16/1).
Former West Ham manager Slaven Bilic is 18/1, then comes Dan Petrescu (18/1), Roy Keane (18/1) and Damien Duff (22/1).
