Sack race odds: Steve Bruce now favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave

Last night’s defeat leaves Newcastle 7 points clear of safety and leaves Bruce at best odds of 6/4 to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post.

The Magpies travelled to the Emirates and faced a reenergised Arsenal side who ran out comfortable winners. Newcastle failed to create anything to test Arsenal’s defence in a performance that saw their winless streak extended.

Poor league form combined with disappointing League Cup and FA Cup exits has left fans increasingly frustrated and the manager under significant pressure.

Wilder is currently second favourite followed by Lampard

Elsewhere, Chris Wilder currently sits at best odds of 3/1 to be the next manager to leave. It was Sheffield United’s 1-0 victory over Newcastle that appears to have tipped the odds away from Wilder.

In South West London, Frank Lampard remains under pressure as Chelsea boss although his odds to be next to leave have steadied over the last week. An unconvincing win over Fulham at the weekend means he sits at 4/1.

Next Premier League manager to leave odds:

  • Steve Bruce 6/4
  • Chris Wilder 3/1
  • Frank Lampard 4/1
  • Roy Hodgson 14/1
  • Nuno Espirito Santo 14/1

The odds for Mikel Arteta to be the next manager to leave have drifted significantly after a series of positive results. Arteta’s Arsenal side face Newcastle United this weekend in what could be a decisive fixture for Steve Bruce’s future.

Newcastle United are currently 15th in the Premier League with 8 points separating them from the relegation zone.
