The Favourites

Bayern Munich have a better WhoScored.com rating (7.03) than any other team in the Champions League this season and, at 7/2, the 2020 victors are among the favourites to secure European glory this year, becoming only the second team to defend their Champions League crown in the process. However, FC Hollywood aren't the favourites to lift the trophy later this year with Manchester City, at 3/1, the odds on favourites to win the Champions League.

City crave the Champions League and, given their excellent domestic form of late, it's impossible to overlook Pep Guardiola's side in the quest for the trophy. City have the second best WhoScored.com rating (6.97) in the competition and they are likely to be one of the final teams battle for glory.

Rounding off the three favourites, it's Liverpool at 9/1 who podium here. The Reds, though, have been in dire form of late, losing five of their last seven and winning just six times in the last 17 matches. Liverpool eased into the last-16 of the Champions League, but their WhoScored.com rating of 6.82 is among the worst of those to book their spots in the knockout stages of the competition. A testing two-legged affair with RB Leipzig looms and given their injury woes, it's best to avoid Liverpool.

Backing one of the favourites? Go for Manchester City at 3/1

The Outside Bet

In terms of league leaders and their odds to win the Champions League, Atletico Madrid at 16/1 is well worth backing. The LaLiga leaders have the best defensive record in Europe's top five leagues having shipped just 13 goals in 21 matches and with a fine forward partnership of Joao Felix and Luis Suarez, Los Colchoneros have the means to both keep teams out and put them to the sword with great efficiency. Having twice made the final in the last decade, only to lose to rivals Real Madrid, maybe third time is the charm for Atletico.

Diego Simeone's side may have struggled in the group stages, reinforced in their lowly WhoScored.com rating of 6.72, but they have been excellent on the whole over the campaign, losing just three competitive matches in 2020/21. With a WhoScored.com rating of 6.76, French giants PSG sit a little higher up the leaderboard than Atletico.

The Parisian outfit are currently at 15/1 to win the Champions League and while they come into tonight's meeting with Barcelona without Neymar, in the likes of Angel Di Maria, Kylian Mbappe and Mauro Icardi, they have the personnel to hurt opponents. Like Simeone, head coach Mauricio Pochettino is another who has made a Champions League final recently and having earned his first piece of silverware shortly after his appointment, he'll be eager for more.

Finally, it's back to another English side as an outside bet. Chelsea earned the fourth best WhoScored.com rating (6.93) in the group stages of the Champions League and the decision to relieve Frank Lampard of his duties has proven the correct one. Thomas Tuchel has overseen a six-game unbeaten run following his appointment at Stamford Bridge, winning the last five, and the team looks much-improved under the watchful eye of the German.

Like Simeone and Pochettino before him, Tuchel is another who has made a Champions League final in the past, guiding PSG to an eventual 1-0 defeat to an imperious Bayern Munich in Portugal back in August. Tuchel clearly knows what is required to progress to the final and, at 20/1, Chelsea are not to be brushed aside so quickly as they prepare themselves for a last-16 meeting with Atletico Madrid.

Backing an Outside Bet? Go for Atletico Madrid at 16/1.
