Europa League Final Odds:

The Europa League final is often seen as the warmup act to the Champions League final, however this year it will attract more attention with the inclusion of the European giants Man Utd.

They overcame Roma in their semi-final by an aggregate score line of 8-5, with Edinson Cavani continuing his hot streak, scoring two goals in the second-leg in Italy. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows they will need to tighten up defensively against this well-drilled Villarreal outfit.

The Spanish side are guided by Europa league veteran and ex-Arsenal manager Unai Emery. His CV in this competition is nothing short of spectacular, having won the competition three times before with Sevilla. This could well be the crossroads in the managerial career of Solskjaer, and it would be a strong statement to beat Emery and win his first piece of silverware for Manchester United.

Some of Manchester United’s players have been in this position before; four of their current squad played in the 2017 final vs Ajax, so it is therefore no surprise that the bookies are leaning towards the Red Devils coming out victorious at 5/6.

Having finished 7th in La Liga, Villarreal will be playing in the lowest tier of European football next season, as they missed out on qualification for both the Champions League AND the Europa league via the traditional method. A victory in this final would secure Champions League football for next season, so should add motivation coming into this final, but the bookies seem to think the English will be too tough of a challenge for Emery’s men, as they are currently priced at 19/5.
