The chasing pack have gained ground on Manchester City in the Premier League winner market, following the defending champions’ opening weekend defeat.
Pep Guardiola’s side have drifted from ante-post odds on favourites, from 4/5 out to 6/5 after falling to defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.

In turn, the next four sides in the market have all had their odds clipped, with Chelsea being nibbled in from 5/1 to 7/2 second favourites.
Liverpool, bolstered by the return of Virgil van Dijk, are 4/1 third favourites with the majority of bookmakers on the oddschecker grid.
Manchester United’s 5-1 procession over Leeds has proved very popular with punters, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side cut from 7/1 into as short as 5/1.
Perhaps the biggest market mover, Spurs 1-0 win over defending champions City has seen their odds drastically cut, from 80/1 into as short as 33/1. 50/1 is still available with just one bookie.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “The opening weekend of the 2021/22 Premier League has resulted in quite a shakeup in the Premier League outright betting, with consensus odds-on favourites City being knocked down a peg.
“Consequently, the chasing pack have all edged closer in the betting, in what should be an exciting title race this season.
“In terms of where the money is going, Manchester United (18.8%) have attracted the most amount of bets, followed by Chelsea (16.2%) and Liverpool (13.3%).”
