Bookmakers have installed Cristiano Ronaldo as the clear favourite to be crowned PFA Player of the Year 2021/22, ahead of his debut against Newcastle United.
In a very competitive betting market, the forward has been priced as 7/1 market leader, attracting the majority of bets since his return was announced.
Over the previous 72 hours, a whopping 27% of all bets in the market have backed CR7 to be given the top individual player award.
The nearest challenger to Ronaldo at the bookies comes from the blue half of Manchester, with Kevin de Bruyne the 8/1 second favourite.
Ronaldo’s compatriot and now club teammate, Bruno Fernandes, is next in the betting at 9/1, the same price as Chelsea new boy Romelu Lukaku.
Jack Grealish has drifted out from 7/1 to 11/1 following both the Ronaldo and Lukaku signings, whilst Harry Kane (12/1), Mo Salah (14/1) and Paul Pogba (18/1) follow next.
Previous winner Virgil van Dijk looks a punchy price at 25/1, then comes Jadon Sancho (28/1), Kai Havertz (33/1), Phil Foden (33/1) and Ruben Dias (33/1).
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “Cristiano Ronaldo hasn't set foot in the Premier League for many years, but there are few who think he'll be unable to cut it second time around.
"The new United signing finds himself as 6/1 third favourite to win the Premier League Golden Boot, only trailing Romelu Lukaku and Mo Salah in the market.
“Coming off the back of a Golden Boot in Italy, there's no reason why Ronaldo can't repeat the feat here - likely securing the PFA award in the process.”
