Newcastle United named joint-favourites for wantaway City star Raheem Sterling

With new ownership at Newcastle they will be looking to make a statement signing and Raheem Sterling would certainty be a statement of intent.

Newcastle are joint-favourites with Real Madrid

Newcastle United have been installed as the joint-favourites for Raheem Sterling’s next club, following reports the Man City star is angling for a move.

Following the takeover, Newcastle are the 10/1 favourites in a competitive betting market, with Steve Bruce’s outfit alongside some huge clubs.

The Toon are joint-favourites with La Liga giants Real Madrid (what a sentence), with Los Blancos also 10/1 in the betting.

Another iconic Spanish side in Barcelona are next up in the market, with Ronald Koeman’s outfit 14/1 third favourites, but as short as 9/1 elsewhere.

Who are the other contenders

Sterling’s recent comments lamenting his lack of playing time has resulted in bookies pricing up a number of new potential suitors, with Tottenham the clear fourth favourites at 16/1

Rounding off the betting, a host of top European clubs are also being considered, with PSG (20/1), Liverpool (40/1) and Arsenal (50/1) at the time of writing.

Our sister site, WhoScored.com, exclusively revealed that in the last four full Premier League seasons - he is one of four players to have registered double figures for goals and assists in two of those, doing so in 17/18 and 18/19. Sane, Son and Salah being the other three.

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “According to British bookmakers, Raheem Sterling faces the very real possibility of going from Pep Guardiola to Steve Bruce.

“That’s of course if Bruce keeps his job at Newcastle, with the former Manchester United man the clear favourite in the Sack Race.

“There haven’t been many occasions where Newcastle and Real Madrid have been joint-favourites in any betting market – is this a sign to come with the heavy investment?”

Raheem Sterling next club market:

  • Newcastle – 10/1
  • Real Madrid – 10/1
  • Barcelona – 14/1
  • Tottenham – 16/1
  • PSG -20/1
  • Liverpool – 40/1
  • Arsenal – 50/1
