Bookmakers have unanimously cut odds on Portuguese Paulo Fonseca being announced as the next permanent Newcastle manager, following the sacking of Steve Bruce.
Fonseca’s odds have been cut from 12/1 just days ago, into 7/4 best price with Unibet at the time of writing.
In the last 24 hours, Fonseca has proved by far the most popular candidate with punters, accruing 24% of all bets in the market, within that time frame.
The ex-Roma man is the latest of many favourites within the market so far, with former Borussia Dortmund man Lucien Favre hot on his tails at 4/1.
Out-of-work Eddie Howe is next up in the betting at 6/1, followed by a fellow Englishman in the shape of Rangers manager Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard’s midfield partner for England, Frank Lampard, is next up in the bookies’ estimations at 16/1, followed by Roberto Martinez (25/1) and Brendan Rodgers (25/1).
Unai Emery (25/1), Jose Mourinho (33/1), Antonio Conte (33/1) and Rafa Benitez (40/1) follow next, then comes Roberto Mancini (40/1) and Zinedine Zidane (40/1).
