oddschecker revisit the AFCON odds after a difficult first week of action for some of the pre-tournament favourites.
The group stages of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations have been filled with drama, if not goals, with the pre-tournament odds shifting significantly in light of recent results.
Three nations can currently be found at best odds of 6/1 to win the tournament with odds varying between bookmakers.
Senegal held to goalless draw by Guinea while Nigeria and Cameroon excel
Pre-tournament favourites Senegal were held to a goalless draw by Guinea on Friday, damaging their tournament chances among bookmakers. Senegal remain favourites but now share that title with Nigeria and Cameroon, all available at best odds of 6/1.
Nigeria’s pre-tournament price of 9/1 has been cut by bookmakers after securing three points against Egypt and Sudan in their opening two group fixtures.
Cameroon also started the tournament at a price of 9/1 but have recorded two positive results in a 2-1 win over Burkina Faso and a 4-1 win over Ethiopia.

Salah's Egypt stumble but still look set to qualify
Egypt’s best odds of 14/1 and worst odds of 10/1 is reflective of the way they’ve split opinion in their AFCON campaign so far. They bounced back from an opening match defeat to Nigeria with victory against Guinea, albeit by an unconvincing 1-0 margin.
Despite a rocky start, they still look set to qualify for the group stages where they could meet the Ivory Coast (best price 8/1) in the Round of 16. Their might be value in backing either of these two teams now, given that the winner should see their AFCON odds significantly shorten.
Holders Algeria in danger of group stage exit
Algeria, who won the 2019 AFCON in Egypt, are in danger of falling at the first hurdle after a poor start to the tournament. A goalless draw against Sierra Leone and a shock 1-0 defeat to Equatorial Guinea means they have just one point from two matches and currently sit bottom of Group E.
Algeria face Group leaders Ivory Coast in the final game of the group stages with a win the only option if they are to progress in the competition. They’ve slipped to best odds of 10/1 from a pre-tournament price of 5/1.
