Deadline Day Transfer Odds: Alli and Lingard on the move?

Two of the stars of England’s run to the World Cup 2018 semi-finals have moved close to January deadline day moves, according to latest transfer odds from oddschecker.

Dele Alli is now odds on (best price 4/5) to be an Everton player in the Club After January betting market, having been as long as 7/1 earlier in the day. He has also been linked with a loan move to Palace (8/1), but Everton are reportedly keen on a permanent transfer.

There were promising signs for Alli’s chances of playing more regularly under Antonio Conte in the 2-2 draw with Liverpool back in December, but he has clocked up just 61 minutes in the team’s five subsequent Premier League matches. The 25-year-old has 37 caps for England, scoring three times including the second goal in England’s 2-0 World Cup quarter-final win over Sweden in 2018.

Jesse Lingard, another who started both that day and in the semi-final defeat to Croatia, has been the subject of regular transfer talk in recent years to coincide with his reduced game time at Old Trafford. The 29-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham, scoring nine times in just 16 Premier League outings.

However, any thoughts that his impressive spell in London would trigger a return to regular football at Old Trafford have proved unfounded – he has clocked just 89 league minutes so far this season but did score both at West Ham and during a 24-minute cameo against Newcastle.

Lingard remains 5/4 to remain at Manchester United after the January transfer window, but he has been cut into a best price 7/4 to join the Saudi revolution at Newcastle United. The latest transfer odds would suggest the Magpies are the only realistic Premier League option for Lingard, but you can get him at 16/1 to join any German club, or 20/1 to make the move to Spain, France or Italy.
