oddschecker have the latest best price Champions League odds as Manchester City travel to Sporting with a few European defensive doubts.
The Champions League returns tomorrow night after just short of 10 weeks on the back burner, as Manchester City resume their bid for an elusive first title.
Pep Guardiola's side (best price 14/5 favourites for the competition) are one of the first four sides to feature in the Round of 16 with a trip to Portuguese champions Sporting CP. City last failed to reach the quarter finals in the 2016/17 season when they went out on away goals to Monaco.
Defensive problems in Europe
On paper this looks a favourable tie for City (best price 1/3 on the night), with Sporting having squeezed through Group C and still six points adrift of Porto in the Portuguese Primeira Liga after throwing away a 2-0 lead away at the table toppers on Friday night. Tomorrow night’s visitors, meanwhile, topped Group A and maintained their nine-point Premier League cushion over the weekend by easing past Norwich.
However, it’s fair to say City have been far more exposed defensively in Europe this season. They conceded 10 times in their six group matches against PSG, RB Leipzig and Club Brugge, failing to keep a single clean sheet. By contrast, they already have 15 clean sheets in just 25 Premier League outings, conceding a total of 14 goals.

Superpowers collide in Paris
The other Round of 16 match tomorrow night is a clash of two football superpowers in PSG and Real Madrid, who both sit inside the top seven favourites in the latest Champions League odds.
It’s fair to say that the difficulty of the draw is lengthening the tournament outright winner price for both PSG (10/1) and 13-time winners Real Madrid – currently a huge best price on oddschecker.
Real, winners of the tournament in four of the five years between 2013/14 and 2017/18, would be sure to shorten with a favourable first leg result in the Parc des Princes.
And it’s not like they’re struggling domestically – Sevilla closed the gap over the weekend with a win over Elche but Real still hold a four-point lead in La Liga after 24 matches.
