Next Manager To Leave Odds: Conte cut into favourite to be next to leave

oddschecker will look at the movement in the market for the next Premier League manager to leave.

Could we be saying ‘arrivederci’ to Antonio Conte?

Conte is a polarizing figure in the footballing world and he’s no stranger to voicing his opinion. He did just that last night after Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat to relegation battlers Burnley. He stated post-game that “when you lose four out of five it means the club have to make an assessment, also to speak together, and to understand which is the best solution.”

Their defeat last night leaves Spurs seven points off the top four, they’ve won just once in their last five games. Conte branded this as unacceptable, question marks must be raised after they secured an impressive win against the league leaders Manchester City however only a few days later fall to defeat to relegation stragglers.

Prior to Conte’s post-match interview last night, he was 10/1 to be the next Premier League manager to leave. Fast forward to today and he has currently moved into favourite ahead of Brendan Rodgers. Conte is currently as short as 3/2 with one bookmaker.

Who are the other main contenders?

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers is second favourite to leave (5/1), quite surprising considering Leicester sit in 12th place currently. However, looking at their current form it’s clear to see why. The Foxes are winless in their last five Premier League games and if they don’t pick up points soon, they could quickly slide further down the table. They currently sit just seven points from safety.

Marcelo Bielsa is third-favourite at 6/1, his Leeds side recently slumped to heavy defeats to both Liverpool and Manchester United. They’ve picked up just two wins in their last eleven in the league. There could be some good value for Bielsa to leave, they are currently just one defeat away from slipping into the bottom three.

An interesting selection could be that no manager will leave their post before the conclusion of the season. Best odds currently available at 11/2, it does seem like good value however given that we have seen eight managers sacked so far this season (two at Watford) it’s unlikely that we get through to the end of the season without any additional managerial causalities.

Who else is in the running?

Further out in the market we have a few outsiders Roy Hodgson (16/1), next comes Manchester United manager Ralph Rangnick and Sean Dyche both at 25/1. Eddie Howe, Dean Smith, Frank Lampard, and Thomas Frank are all available at best odds of 33/1. It will be interesting to see more key movements in this market in the coming weeks depending on how these teams perform.
