Next England Manager Odds: Pochettino shortening but Potter still the favourite

Graham Potter has shortened into 3/1 with some bookmakers in the next England manager odds market after England’s chastening 4-0 defeat against Hungary.

Still a best price 10/3, Brighton manager Potter, 47, has impressed England fans with the Seagulls' attractive style of play across the last three seasons. His Brighton team have won 37 of 128 games in all competitions across the period.

By contrast, England fans appear disillusioned with the negative playing style adopted by Southgate, who divides opinion despite reaching the World Cup semi-final in Russia four years ago before losing on penalties in the Euro 2020 final against Italy last summer.

Second favourite after Potter in the next England manager odds market is Eddie Howe, who oversaw a remarkable turnaround at Newcastle United in the second half of last season – taking the Magpies from relegation favourites to 11th place finishers and can now be found at the best price of 6/1.

An unexpected name in the market is that has gained traction is former Tottenham and PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine has moved from 66/1 to as short as 8/1 with one bookmaker.  Pochettino was recently dismissed by the PSG hierarchy due to his sides poor performances in the Champions League and has been touted with many big jobs in Europe but could he be the right man for the biggest job in world football?

If Poch was chosen to take charge of the Three Lions he would become only the third foreign manager to take the role with Sven-Goran Eriksson the first and Italian Fabio Capello the last.

Further down the market we can see the former England player and current Everton manager Frank Lampard at 10/1. After Lampard, we arrive at his international midfielder partner and Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard at 11/1.

Former England under 21's manager Aidy Boothroyd carries an interesting price differential having been priced at 100/1 with one bookie but as short as 20/1 with two other bookies.
