As Arsenal prepare for their Premier League opener at Crystal Palace, oddschecker punters appear convinced that the Gunners can continue their fine pre-season form.
Can Arsenal really mount a Premier League title tilt?
At the time of writing, since the end of last season only Spurs (17.96%) have received more bets through oddschecker in the Premier League winner market than Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal (16.83%).
That’s probably not to say that this section of punters expect Arsenal, or Spurs, to break the recent dominance of the top two in Manchester City and Liverpool, but the value has certainly been with the North London clubs.
For example, 50/1 was readily available for Arsenal until around three weeks into July, after which Arsenal dispatched Everton, Orlando City, Chelsea and Sevilla – scoring 15 goals in the process and conceding just the one.
Sky Bet are still offering a best price 40/1 for the Gunners to lift the Premier League title in May, but they are as short as 25/1 with various boomakers.

However, the value is still more likely to be for Arsenal to achieve the Top 4 finish that eluded them on the final day of last season. You can still get 13/8 through oddschecker (worst 5/4), which probably explains why more than 20% of the bets in this market have been on Arsenal (20.84%).
And is Jesus a genuine contender in the Top Scorer market?
Gabriel Jesus is certainly talk of the town right now. The Brazilian, so often second fiddle for Pep Guardiola at Manchester City – or thrust into a wide role – is set to take centre stage for Arsenal. In fact, he is likely to start the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season as the highest owned player for Gameweek 1 in the competition’s history.
And the likelihood of him adding considerably to his current tally of 58 goals has not been lost on the oddschecker community either. Since the 2022/23 Premier League Top Goalscorer market opened, only Manchester City’s new marksman Erling Haaland (22.97%) has received more bets than Jesus (13.28%), with Arsenal’s new number nine ahead of England skipper Harry Kane (10.74%). Second favourite Mohamed Salah, by the way, features in just 6.61% of the betslips.
Jesus’ price was as long as 33/1 before he opened the scoring against Everton on 17th July, whereas he is now a best price of 12/1 (9/1 in places). We still wouldn’t put you off taking the bet, though, particularly as bookies are offering each way odds on four places (six with BoyleSports).
