Next Stoke City Manager Odds: Dyche 2/1 favourite to replace O’Neill

Sean Dyche is the bookies favourite to replace Michael O’Neill as the next Stoke City manager at a best price of 2/1.

The 51-year-old former Burnley boss (2/1) has been out of a job since being sacked by the Clarets last season, but could he be tempted by the project at the bet365 stadium?

He kept Burnley in the top flight for five seasons, managing 425 games in all across nine and a half years and winning 149.

Interestingly, Middlesbrough boss Chris Wilder is second favourite in the market at 4/1 (best price 5/1) to leave Teesside for a new opportunity at Stoke.

It would be a surprise to see Wilder leave the Riverside Stadium, with his side evens in places for a top six finish (6/4 best price), whereas Stoke are outsiders for a playoff finish at 9/2 best price.

Bristol Rovers manager Joey Barton is the third favourite in the next Stoke manager odds market, with best odds of 6/1 (worst price 5/2). Barton has been with the club for 18 months, overseeing both a relegation and a dramatic bounce-back promotion on the final day of last season.

Of course, Barton's managerial career has - perhaps unsurprisingly - not been without controversy. Just a year into his first job with Fleetwood Town he was investigated for allegedly assaulting Barnsley manager Daniel Stendel in the tunnel. He was cleared of all charges in December 2021.

On 1st July 2022, the 39-year-old signed a new three-year contract extension to keep him at Bristol Rovers until 2026. His side have been inconsistent so far in the new League One season, mixing two wins with three defeats from five matches.
