Sack Race Odds: Cooper cut to 2/9 as Rodgers drifts with first Leicester win

Brendan Rodgers has drifted to a best price 10/1 in the Premier League Sack Race odds while Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper was slashed into 2/9.

Quite incredibly, given Leicester's poor start to the season, Brendan Rodgers might not be one of the first five Premier League managers to leave their clubs.

Ahead of their first league win of the season against Forest, Rodgers was as short as Evens with some bookmakers, with Forest’s Cooper a best price 6/1.

Fast forward just 90 minutes and we have seen a complete role reversal in the next manager to leave market. Every bet on the market through oddschecker in the last 24 hours has gone the way of Cooper, with many punters thinking he could be the next to go.

Even Southampton's Ralph Hasenhuttl (8/1) is now a shorter price than Rodgers (10/1) to follow Scott Parker, Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Bruno Lage out of the door. Potter, of course, opted to leave Brighton to take up the Chelsea job vacated by Tuchel.

Cooper and Forest have a massive home game against Aston Villa on the horizon ahead of trips to Wolves and Brighton, before a tough end to the month which includes Liverpool coming to the City Ground and a trip to Arsenal. They will be desperate for points on the board following their fifth successive defeat, as they look to avoid relegation back to the Championship (best price 7/17).

Cooper might not make it to the end of the month, however, as a hammering to Leicester after defeats to both fellow promoted sides Bournemouth and Fulham at home could see the end for him. Yet, after sealing promotion last season with a remarkable run of form, he may be given more time. Evangelos Marinakis has invested a lot into their squad, bringing in 21 new signings, a British record, and may trust Cooper to get the best out of those players.

As for Rodgers and Leicester, they went into the game winless and with just a single point, with many questions asked about the future of Brendan Rodgers. However, they had quality in attack and were able to nullify the Forest attack and pick up a much-needed win for the Foxes, meaning Rodgers is now as long as 10/1 to be the next manager to leave his post.

James Maddison was the man of the moment as his two goals and assist lit up a Leicester side low on confidence to show Gareth Southgate what he would be missing from his England squad should he not select him in his final 26 squad to take to the 2022 World Cup. He is currently best priced at 2/1 to make the squad.

Leicester are still only 19th, but with a good run of fixtures ahead of them, they should be able to start their run up the table to a more respectable position for them. They go to Bournemouth this weekend before returning to the King Power to face Crystal Palace and Leeds United.

Like Forest, Leicester also have a tough end to the month, with another Midlands Derby against Wolves at Molineux, followed by the arrival of red hot Manchester City.
