Moises Caicedo is pushing for a move away from Brighton in the January transfer window, but where is he likeliest to end up according to the bookmaker odds?
Moises Caicedo is reportedly still weighing up his options for a move away from Brighton in this window. Arsenal are looking the most likely with a bid of around £70 million already on the table for the Ecuadorian midfielder.
Brighton have had an excellent first half of the season and Caicedo has been a big contributing factor. He’s played over 1600 Premier League minutes for the Seagulls and has a pass success rate of 88.5%. However, following an Instagram post and direction to stay away from training until the window closes it looks as though he could be on his way.

There is no doubt that there are a lot of sides in the league that would improve with Caicedo in their squad. Throughout this season he’s demonstrated he is one of the league’s best tacklers, a master at interceptions and winner of aerial duels. In fact, he boasts the highest aerial success rate (70%) of any central midfielder in the Premier League this season.
If Caicedo is to opt for a move away from Brighton, which Premier League club will he choose?
Who are the favourites to sign Moises Caicedo in January?
Arsenal
The Gunners have already made the signing of Brighton’s Leandro Trossard in this window and they are the likeliest (best price 13/8) to win the race to sign Caicedo too. Arteta’s men have been very keen to strengthen their squad in January to keep up their pursuit of their first title in 19 years.
Strengthening the squad is exactly what Caicedo would do. Quickly comparing his stats this season against the Arsenal squad’s show that the Brighton man would top for both tackles (52) and interceptions (26) this season.
It’s likely that Caicedo wouldn’t necessarily be a regular starter should he join Arsenal with Thomas Partey likely to remain first choice but with Arsenal sitting clear at the top of the Premier League you can understand any players desire to join Arteta’s regime.
Chelsea
Todd Boehly’s Chelsea have had a very busy window already and are still on the hunt for further reinforcements. It does look as though Chelsea’s priority is Enzo Fernandez but with that deal in the balance they may look to make a late move for Caicedo (20/1 best but 2/1 worst price).
This wouldn’t be the first time that we’ve seen Chelsea steal one of Arsenal’s transfer targets this season as they already snatched Mykhailo Mudryk off of the Gunners earlier in the window, and beat them to the signing of Joao Felix.
Which other clubs might be interested in Caicedo?
There are a few other sides who are showing slight interest in Caicedo and you can back the likes of Newcastle (33/1), Man Utd (33/1), Liverpool (50/1) and Spurs (66/1) to be the Ecuadorian’s club after the January transfer window.
Fresh from announcing their £40 million pound signing of Anthony Gordon from Everton, Newcastle are another team with a chance of signing Caicedo. They aren’t afraid of spending money since their Saudi takeover and Caicedo could be the perfect squad strengthener.
Man Utd really seem to be getting the best out of Casemiro of late and so they aren’t quite as in need of another midfielder, whereas Liverpool are crying out for a breath of fresh air in their midfield.
Caicedo has also put in big performances against both sides already in the Premier League this season with Brighton’s trip to Old Trafford his second-best game all season according to the WhoScored.com ratings (7.54).
You can also get Spurs at 66/1 to win the race to Caicedo but the rumours have been pretty quiet surrounding their intentions. With that said, Spurs are another side which would only improve by the addition of Caicedo and so you never know, we might see a late swoop from Conte’s side.
