Following an enormous amount of pressure, Nathan Jones has finally been relieved of his duties at Southampton. The ex-Luton Town manager lasted just three months in charge of the club, losing nine of the 14 matches he was in charge for following his appointment on November 10th.

Former Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard is the current favourite at a best price of 6/1 to replace Nathan Jones at Southampton. He was sacked by Villa in November 2021 after just 11 months in charge, and the former Rangers boss could make the move to St Mary's.

Linked with the vacant position at Marsch’s former club Leeds, and a favourite for the Southampton role prior to Nathan Jones’ arrival, Marcelo Gallardo has been out of a job since leaving River Plate in 2022. He might have second thoughts this time round with the Saints' four points off Leeds United, who have a game in hand on the South Coast side. Former Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch was only sacked by Leeds United on Monday, but he could be a contender for the St Mary's role at a best price of 10/1. Marsch took over the popular Marcelo Biesla at Elland Road and escaped relegation to the Championship on the last day of the 2022/23 season.
However, it has not been straight forward for Leeds, having sold their talisman in Raphinha to Barcelona, and have struggled for results. The American is the current second favourite to replace Nathan Jones at Southampton.
Nuno Espirito Santo
Another former Spurs manager in Nuno Espirito Santo is also amongst the favourites to take over at St Mary's. He will be remembered by Premier League fans for his time at Wolves rather than his short Tottenham reign however, where he only lasted until November 2021, having being appointed in June 2021. He is currently in charge of Saudi side Al-Ittihad, and had previously held talks of a return to Molineux prior to Julen Lopetegui’s appointment.
Mauricio Pochettino
Could the former Southampton boss be in for a sensational return to St Mary's? The Argentine manager has been constantly linked to top roles in England, and he is once again linked with a return to St Mary's, having first taken charge of the club from January 2013 before joining Tottenham in May 2014.
He took Southampton up to 8th position in his first full season, and having taken Tottenham to a Champions League final, he has more than enough credentials to keep Southampton up.
