Manchester City are still the bookmakers’ favourite to win the Champions League, following their 1-1 draw away to RB Leipzig in the first leg of their tie.
The Champions League Round of 16 first legs have been completed following Wednesday’s fixtures, with the second legs are taking place on the 7th and 8th March, as well as the 14th and 15th March.
There are some enticing encounters taking place so at half time in the Round of 16 ties, we take a look at the favourites to win this seasons Champions League trophy.
Who are the favourites for the 2022/23 Champions League?
Manchester City
7/4 favourites when the Round of 16 draw was made, Manchester City are still the favourites at a best price of 2/1. Their 1-1 draw away at Leipzig, considering they lost there last season, meant that they can take the game to them at the Etihad Stadium, which should be an enthralling encounter.
They went unbeaten through the group and, despite results falling off recently, they should navigate past Marco Rose’s side and progress into the quarter-finals, a stage they have reached every season since 2016/17, where they went out to Monaco in the Round of 16.
Erling Haaland, who has five goals this campaign, is the favourite to be the Champions League top scorer this season at 13/8, but faces strong competition from Kylian Mbappe, best price of 10/3, Vinicius Junior, best price of 9/2, and current leader, Mohamed Salah who is best priced at 16/1.

Bayern Munich
After their tight 1-0 victory over PSG in the first-leg, Julian Nagelsmann’s side are a best price of 7/2 to win just their second Champions League in four seasons, after winning the 2020 edition of the tournament.
From their seven games in the tournament, they have won all seven of those games, including navigating a tricky group containing Inter Milan and Barcelona. They are tied with Borussia Dortmund and Union Berlin on 43 points from 21 games played in the Bundesliga, but the Bavarian outfit have been consistent winners throughout the last few years, which explains their short price to win the big European trophy.

Real Madrid
The current holders of the competition's price has fluctuated, lengthening to 14/1 when the draw with Liverpool was made, to then rise further to a price as high as 21/1 at one point during the first leg, before settling at a current best price of 6/1. Their 5-2 victory over Liverpool, in which they were 2-0 down within 15 minutes, showed their consistency and class to comeback against the odds.
Their three goal cushion against a Liverpool side riddled with inconsistency means they are heavy favourites to qualify for the quarter-finals against last year’s runners up, but we expect them to reach the semi-finals, which they have done in the previous two seasons.

Napoli
The surprise package of the elite teams this season, Napoli swept aside a Eintracht Frankfurt side 2-0 to give them a steady advantage going into their second leg in Naples. Their best price of 8/1 behind the usual favourites shows how they may be unfancied to lift the trophy, but don’t write off the Serie A runaway leaders.
They were as high as 150/1 when the group stage draw was made, and then a best price of 16/1 after they topped their group with runners up Liverpool. Many have doubted their quality, and whilst they could struggle should they be drawn against the usual favourites, they look to be flying this season and with a bit of luck and quality, anything is possible.
Chelsea
Surprisingly, the fifth favourites to win the Champions League are out of form Chelsea, but their best price of 20/1 highlights how they might not be strong and experienced enough to win their third Champions League trophy.
They topped their group, beating current Serie A holders AC Milan home and away, but their 1-0 defeat away to Borussia Dortmund in their Round of 16 tie means they have it all to do at Stamford Bridge, and with Graham Potter under pressure to get results following just two wins in 15 games, they might not even progress to the last eight.

What about the other English teams in the competition?
Tottenham Hotspur
Antonio Conte’s Tottenham are yet to win a major trophy since 2008, and after a 1-0 defeat to AC Milan at the San Siro, their 33/1 best price shows they are huge outsiders to win the trophy, with eight teams more fancied, being the five previously mentioned and PSG, Benfica and Inter Milan.
They, rather unconvincingly, progressed through the group stage, securing their fate on the final matchday, and have it all to do to turn it around in the second leg and progress to the quarter-finals.
Liverpool
Beaten 5-2 in the re-run of last year’s final, Liverpool are the most improbable winners from the English teams, as they are down at a best price of 100/1 to win the trophy. Prior to their demolition at Anfield, they could be found at a best price of 9/1 to win the trophy, but Real Madrid’s comfortable win has all but shattered their chances of progressing further.
You would think there is no chance at qualification into the quarter-finals against a strong Real Madrid side at home, but Liverpool have had their fair share of historical comebacks against the odds in this competition, however, with the Reds languishing down in 8th in the Premier League, the bookmakers’ think such a comeback might be out of their reach.
