Next Crystal Palace Manager Odds: Ralph Hasenhuttl the favourite to replace Patrick Vieira

Ralph Hasenhuttl is the favourite to replace Patrick Vieira in the next Crystal Palace manager odds market following his sacking on Friday morning.

Following a run of 12 games without a win going back to December, and three straight defeats in the Premier League, Patrick Vieira has been sacked as Crystal Palace manager. Despite sitting in 12th place, The Eagles are only three points away from the drop zone, and with a stagnation in results, the former Arsenal captain has paid the price.

Vieira replaced Roy Hodgson 18 months ago and made a bright start to his Selhurst Park stint, but this season has been a contrast to last season, and the last three months have been dire for his side. Winless in 2023, they had gone three games without a shot on target prior to their game against Brighton. Crystal Palace are due to go to league leaders Arsenal this weekend. He becomes the 10th manager to be sacked this season, the same number as last season’s total.

Who are the favourites to replace Patrick Vieira at Crystal Palace?

Ralph Hasenhuttl

Former Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is the favourite to replace Vieira at 5/1. Hasenhuttl was sacked by Southampton this season, but had kept the Saints in the Premier League in all of his completed seasons.

Southampton parted company with Hasenhuttl back in November with just 12 points after 14 games, and they were struggling prior to his dismissal. As Southampton manager, he suffered two 9-0 defeats, against both Leicester in October 2019 and Manchester United in February 2021.

Hasenhuttl likes to play with a 3 at the back formation, and asks his players to press their opponents. He is also experienced in the Premier League relegation battle, having been near the bottom with Southampton over the last few seasons.

Rafa Benitez

Rafa Benitez is the second favourite at 6/1 to take over at Selhurst Park. He has managed four different Premier League clubs, and could be set to take over his fifth club. He last managed Everton, but was sacked in January of his first year in the job, lasting just six and a half months, where they narrowly avoided relegation with Frank Lampard as his replacement.

At Newcastle, he was signed in March 2016 and was unable to keep them up in the Premier League. They did return as Championship winners the following season and stayed a following two seasons before departing, which could be a hint of experience in the relegation dogfight.

Carlos Corberan

Carlos Corberan has only been in charge of West Brom for five months but the Spaniard has impressed since taking over the Baggies.

In those five months, the 39-year-old has taken West Brom from the relegation zone to just outside the playoffs. Corberan is currently a best price of 9/1 to take over at Selhurst Park but as short as X/1 with one bookmaker.

Corberan’s teams play an attacking brand of football which Palace fans are crying out for after such a dry spell of goals. The former Huddersfield and Olympiacos boss spent time at Leeds as Marcelo Bielsa's first team coach.

Nuno Espirito Santo

Nuno Espirito Santo is currently 10/1 to take over the hot seat at Crystal Palace. Nuno will be remembered for his dreadful time at Tottenham but the Portuguese manager, who enjoyed happier times during a four-year spell with Wolves, has reinvented himself in the Saudi Pro League. His Al-Ittihad side are top of the table, a point ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr.

Marcelo Bielsa

The former Leeds United manager who was sacked last season, is in at a best price of 10/1 to become the next Crystal Palace manager (worst price 6/1).

Bielsa brought Leeds up from the Championship and finished as high as 9th in their first season before parting ways with the Yorkshire club in February 2022, leaving them in 16th in the Premier League table. Can his high energy football bring some life back to Selhurst Park?
