Declan Rice Next Club Odds: Arsenal lead race for West Ham captain

West Ham United captain Declan Rice is a best price 5/2 to join Premier League table toppers Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old, capped 39 times by England, is expected to anchor Gareth Southgate's midfield once more as The Three Lions start out on the road to Euro 2024 against Italy.

Rice has been touted as a long-term replacement for 30-year-old Granit Xhaka alongside Thomas Partey in Mikel Arteta’s Gunners midfield. He is a best price 5/2 to make the summer move to the Emirates – a move priced as short as 7/5 with two bookmakers.

If it’s not Arsenal, where else might Rice end up? Chelsea (7/1) are the likeliest according to the latest odds, but will the Blues spending spree continue under new owner Todd Boehly?

Argentine World Cup winner Enzo Fernandes arrived in January for huge money, while Mateo Kovacic is back in favour under Graham Potter after an injury affected first part of the season.

Chelsea’s interest in Rice will probably depend on the future of N’Golo Kante, 31, who hasn’t featured in the Premier League since playing 84 minutes in a 2-2 draw with Spurs in mid-August.

Ironically, the future of another 31-year-old may dictate Manchester United’s stance in the race for Rice. Christian Eriksen, so impressive alongside Casemiro for the Reds (8/1 to sign Rice) since joining last summer, remains sidelined with the ankle injury he sustained against Reading in January.

Liverpool's pursuit of Jude Bellingham is one of the worst kept secrets in football, but would West Ham skipper Rice (best price 11/1) become a more realistic bet if the Reds miss out on Champions League football next season?

While Rice would carry significant cost himself, Sam McGuire told us in January that Liverpool could shelve plans to sign the £150 million rated Dortmund teenager Bellingham in favour of three new midfielders. Does Rice fit into that equation?
