With Manchester City having wrapped up the title for this season, we cast our eyes to the 2023/24 Premier League season which kicks off on August 12th.
A quite remarkable season is drawing to a close, which saw a World Cup victory for Argentina in December and Erling Haaland smash the record number of goals in a Premier League season, while all three promoted sides in Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest survived the drop and there was a record number of managerial changes for a Premier League season (14).
With a high stakes relegation battle seeing Everton survive at the expense of Leicester and Leeds, next season promises to be even more competitive, with a rejuvenated Burnley coming up with Sheffield United and Luton, whose Championship Play-off Final took place last Saturday.
When does the new Premier League season start?
The 2023/24 Premier League is set to kick off on August 12th, which is a week later than the 2022/23 season launch, with the schedule set to return to normal after three seasons with the Covid-19 pandemic and 2022 World Cup in Qatar providing much disruption to the regular football calendar.

What are the key dates for the 2023/24 season?
With the start of the new season brings a whole new fixture list, which is set to be announced at 09:00 BST on Thursday 15th June. Champions Manchester City will find out who they’ll be playing on their first game, as will the three new promoted sides. The beginning of the summer transfer window is also a key time for football fans, which only increases the excitement levels for the new season.
A record £1.9bn was spent last summer, with West Ham’s Declan Rice, Dortmund teenager Jude Bellingham and England captain Harry Kane just a few of the names who could make a move this summer.
Last year’s summer window saw Erling Haaland, Darwin Nunez and Casemiro move from Germany, Portugal and Spain respectively to join Premier League clubs, and we are likely to see a similar story when the international transfer window opens on July 1st.
Which teams will be competing in the 2023/24 season?
We know all 20 teams who will be competing in the 2023/24 season, with Burnley, Sheffield United and Luton Town joining the Premier League to complete the 20 teams for next season’s top flight.
For just the fourth time in Premier League history, all three sides promoted from the Championship last season (Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest) have stayed up and will compete in the Premier League next season. The last time this happened was in 2017/18, when Newcastle, Brighton and Huddersfield all survived the drop after getting promoted.
As a result of this, Southampton, who have been in the league since the 2012/13 season, drop into the Championship alongside Leicester and Leeds. While the Toffees survived on the final day, they were most at risk of becoming the latest ever-present Premier League side to be relegated, having never been relegated from the Premier League since its inaugural season. Aston Villa were the latest ever present Premier League side to be relegated back in 2015/16.
