Chris Wilder Sheffield United Record

Chris Wilder’s first spell as Sheffield United manager ended in March 2021 when the club were bottom of the Premier League with 14 points from 28 games. This came less than two years after securing his second promotion in just three years, taking the club from League One to the top flight.

Wilder managed 106 wins from 227 matches in charge at Bramall Lane.

He failed to reach a year in charge in his next position with Middlesbrough, leaving them in the bottom three of the Championship after two wins from the first 11 matches of the 2022/23 season.

Wilder subsequently took charge of Watford on a short-term deal at the end of that same season, winning three of his 11 matches with the Hornets (27.3% win rate).

Chris Wilder is widely expected to replace Paul Heckingbottom (75% implied chance in the next Sheffield United manager odds market), despite some support for fellow Bramall Lane hero Neil Warnock (14/1), who took the club to the Premier League in 2006 in a seven-year spell with the club.

Another name reportedly in the running is Graham Potter (16/1 on BetVictor), who has been out of work since leaving Chelsea in April of this year.

The 48-year-old impressed in a three-year spell with Brighton, but failed on his biggest assignment to date – winning just 12 of his 31 matches with Chelsea in all competitions. He left the club in 11th place in the Premier League after just seven months in charge.
