A popular candidate for recent managerial openings in the Championship heads the betting in the race to replace Alex Neil at Stoke City.
Bookmakers are starting to release odds on who will be the next manager in charge at Stoke City following the sacking of Alex Neil over the weekend.
Neil was dismissed following Saturday's home defeat by Championship bottom club Sheffield Wednesday, which leaves the Potters 20th in the table.
He only left Championship rivals Sunderland - themselves still in the market for a new manager to replace Tony Mowbray – to join Stoke 16 months ago.

Who is the favourite to be the next Stoke manager?
Former Birmingham City manager John Eustace is the bookmakers’ favourite to replace Alex Neil at Stoke, having been given a 50% chance at a best price of Evens on BetVictor.
The 44-year-old Eustace’s 16-month St Andrew’s tenure was brought to an end two months ago, as he was replaced by Wayne Rooney despite sitting in the Championship Top 6.

Former midfielder Eustace has spent the largest part of his managerial career with Kidderminster, winning more than 50% of his matches in two years.
He also enjoyed a brief spell as caretaker manager of QPR in 2019, helping the club avoid relegation from the Championship after taking seven points from seven games.
Second in the running to replace Neil is Mowbray (2/1), who was sacked by Sunderland less than a week ago despite sitting just three points outside the Championship play-offs.
Mowbray’s Black Cats had made a strong start to the 2023/24 Championship season as they looked to bounce back from playoff heartbreak in May. They won six of their opening 10 games to go 4th in the Championship, but two wins from the last nine saw them drop to 9th.
Meanwhile, Graham Potter is the only other manager with a best price shorter than 10/1 in the latest next Stoke manager odds through oddschecker.
One of the forgotten men of English football, Potter (8/1) impressed in a three-year spell with Brighton, but failed on his biggest assignment to date.
He won just 12 of his 31 matches with Chelsea in all competitions. The now 48-year-old left the club in 11th place in the Premier League after just seven months in charge.
