Who is the favourite to be the next Sunderland manager?

William Still, the Belgian manager currently in charge of Ligue 1 side Reims, is the bookmakers' favourite to replace Tony Mowbray as Sunderland manager (best price 5/2 on BetVictor).

Still is most famous for getting the Reims job aged 30, with the club fined €25,000 for every match he managed due to him not holding a UEFA Pro Licence.

Second in line to replace Mowbray in the latest next Sunderland manager odds is Swede Kim Hellberg (3/1), while former Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom is 5/1 (16% implied chance) to make an instant return to management.

Leon Blackman from oddschecker said: “Following the sacking of Tony Mowbray, bookmakers had their say on who could replace him as the new Sunderland boss. The betting market remains wide open, but early favourites John Eustace and Steven Schumacher are slipping down the grid.

“William Still and Kim Hellberg are the market leaders at this stage, but it will be one to watch over the coming hours and days to see what intel the bookies get on a replacement for the Black Cats.”
