Next Forest Manager Odds: Forest shorten for relegation after Nuno 'appointment'

Nottingham Forest are expected to announce that Steve Cooper has been sacked as manager to be replaced by former Wolves and Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

The relegation odds market has not reacted kindly to the appointment, with Forest now as short as 2/1 to be relegated in May with several leading bookmakers (11/4 best price on Betway).

Steve Cooper has been the clear sack race odds leader in recent weeks after coming under huge pressure from the club’s owner Evangelos Marinakis. His side are on a run of just one win and eight points from 13 Premier League games.

A creditable point at Wolves bought some time for Cooper, but last Friday’s 2-0 home defeat against Spurs looks like being his final game in charge.

Premier League Relegation Odds

Portuguese manager Nuno Espirito Santo enjoyed a successful four-year spell at Wolves, guiding them to promotion from the Championship in his first season in charge before consecutive seventh-place finishes in the Premier League. He also took the club to the Europa League quarter-finals.

Nuno started well at Spurs in the 2021/22 season but was sacked after less than four months in charge following a run of five defeats in seven games.

His most recent managerial post was at Saudi club Al-Ittihad, where he won the Saudi title last season but paid the price for a poor start to the current campaign.

Forest are now as long as 66/1 with two bookmakers to finish in the Top Half of the Premier League.
