The outright market leaders have a 25% chance of winning the FA Cup in June according to the best odds through oddschecker.
The 3rd round of the FA Cup gets underway tonight as Crystal Palace play Everton at Selhurst Park, marking the first involvement of Premier League teams in the 2023/24 competition.
It is also the stage at which the 24 Championship clubs make their bow.
The preliminary qualifying round started way back in August, while the first round proper started on 4th November when the League One and League Two clubs entered the fray.
Who are favourites to win the 2023/24 FA Cup?
Manchester City are the big favourites with the bookmakers to win the 2023/24 FA Cup at a best price of 3/1 on Sky Bet (implied 25% chance).
Pep Guardiola’s side lifted the trophy last season after a 2-1 final win over Manchester United en route to a glorious treble.
It was, however, the first time City had won the FA Cup since the 2018/19 season when they thrashed Watford 6-0 in the final at Wembley.
There has been a different winner of the FA Cup in each of the last four seasons – City’s 2022/23 team was preceded by Liverpool in 2021/22, Leicester City in 2020/21 and Arsenal in 2019/20.
2023/24 FA Cup Odds
| FA Cup Winners | Best Odds | Worst Odds |
|---|---|---|
| Man City | 3/1 | 5/2 |
| Chelsea | 10/1 | 8/1 |
| Arsenal | 10/1 | 6/1 |
| Man Utd | 11/1 | 8/1 |
| Newcastle | 12/1 | 10/1 |
| Liverpool | 12/1 | 15/2 |
| Tottenham | 14/1 | 11/1 |
| Brighton | 16/1 | 15/1 |
| Aston Villa | 20/1 | 13/1 |
At the time of writing, Manchester City are the only team with a best price shorter than 10/1 (9% implied chance) to win the 2023/24 FA Cup through oddschecker.
However, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea are 8/1 with several bookmakers, with Liverpool 15/2 on Paddy Power, so it pays to shop around for the best price.
FA Cup Tips
The key to outright betting on the FA Cup is to try and predict how the market will react after the next round. This is probably why Spurs are the most backed team through oddschecker since the draw was made in December, taking nearly 18% of the bets (14/1 on BetMGM).
Tottenham have won four of their last five Premier League matches and have a home tie with Burnley in the 3rd round on Friday night.
Above them in the market, one of Arsenal and Liverpool will fall at the 3rd round stage, while Newcastle (three league defeats in a row) face a testing North East Derby at Sunderland.
The second most backed team through oddschecker is Aston Villa (20/1 on bet365), owing both to their Premier League form and the cup record of their manager Unai Emery.
The Spaniard has won the Europa League three times with Sevilla, while he collected five domestic cup trophies in just two seasons with PSG between 2016 and 2018. Villa play Championship mid-table side Middlesbrough on Saturday at the Riverside.
The third team outright bet we like going into the 3rd round is Liverpool (12/1 on Betfred). Jurgen Klopp’s side (winners of both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup in 2021/22) will shorten significantly if they can overcome Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
