As large as 25/1 this morning, there has been a wave of support coming in for Keane, whose odds now stand at 3/1 with the bookies.
Keane has emerged as the focal point of betting activity on Oddschecker this Thursday morning, commanding a staggering 73% of all bets placed on the market.
There have been reports from news outlets in Ireland on Thursday that the FAI and Roy Keane have held meetings around the role.
He now sits alongside Gus Poyet at 3/1 as the bookmakers' favourite to replace Stephen Kenny.
Current interim manager John O’Shea is 5/1 in the market alongside Georgian national team manager Willy Sagnol.

Keane has not been a head coach since leaving Ipswich Town in 2011. He previously led Sunderland to the Championship title in 2006/07.
The popular pundit hasn't been completely detatched from leadership positions however, as he has served as assisant manager for Premier League side, Aston Villa and briefly for Nottingham Forest.
He is also no stranger to the Ireland national side as he worked under Martin O'Neil between 2013 to 2018 as assistant manager.

It seems to be an opportune moment for the Irish FA if they are to make their move on the former Sunderland man, as his contract with the Greek FA ends on Sunday.
The Uruguayan manager has become somewhat of a journeyman since his departure from Sunderland in 2013, managing six sides in that time.
