Salah Golden Boot Odds: Salah given 30% chance of levelling Haaland's tally tonight

Mohammed Salah has been given a golden opportunity to catch Erling Haaland in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot.

With just eight gameweeks left in the Premier League, the race for the Golden Boot is heating up.

Mohamed Salah has been on the tail of Erling Haaland for a while now and just two goals seperates the Liverpool forward from the prolific City man.

Erling Haaland was an unused substitute in Manchester City's 4-1 victory over Aston Villa on Wednesday night. As a result, his goal tally remained at 18.

Liverpool face bottom of the league Sheffield United tonight at Anfield. Liverpool is the second highest scoring side in the league and Sheffield have conceded the most goals in the league this year with 77. With a game in hand, it seems a perfect opportunity for Salah to gain on Haaland.

While the Norweigan forward’s goal tally is certainly impressive, he hasn’t hit the same heights as he did last season when he won the Golden Boot with a six-goal cushion from Harry Kane.

At this point in the season last year, Haaland had 14 more goals than he currently does with 32.

Perhaps this can be attributed to the five game lay off he suffered as a result of a stress fracture back in December. Nonetheless his goals per 90 minutes are down from 1.2 last season to 0.8 this season.

The door is most defintely open for the Egyptian talisman to take advantage of Haalands’ drop off in output as he attempts to help continue the Red’s title charge tonight against Sheffield.

Premier League Golden Boot Odds

Player Best Odds Goals
Erling Haaland 1/3 18
Mohamed Salah 5/1 16
Son-Heung Min 11/1 15
Ollie Watkins 12/1 16
Dominic Solanke 14/1 16

Though bookmakers see Haaland as almost a certainty to win the Golden Boot (75% implied chance), the top scorer leaderboard is very close.

Salah sits on 16, two behind Haaland and has been given a 64% (4/7 best price at Bet UK) chance of scoring at least once tonight when Liverpool face Sheffield United at home.

The Egyptian forward has a 30% chance of levelling Haaland's tally with two goals tonight with a best price of 12/5 at Paddy Power.

Aston Villa forward, Ollie Watkins, who is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, is on 16 goals and can be found at best price of 12/1 (an implied chance of 8%) at Bet Victor or SpreadEX.

As Villa press on for Champions League places they will hope this injury is not too serious as his goals will be essential to their success.

A name that might come as a surprise to some is Dominic Solanke who occupies joint second place with 16 goals for Bournemouth this year.

The former Liverpool and Chelsea player was 150/1 (0.7% implied chance) to win the Golden Boot at the start of the seaon and is now as short as 10/1 (9% Implied chance).

However, he can still be found at a best price of 14/1 at Paddy Power or WilliamHill.

Not far behind him is Spurs winger, Son who recently took his tally to 15 with a late winner against Luton the game before last.
