Everton have been deducted a further two points, dropping them closer to the relegation zone with seven games remaining.
Things were starting to look up for Sean Dyche and his Everton side as they gained a vital three points over the weekend thanks to a goal from striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin against fellow relegation candidates Burnley.
However, celebrations will have been short lived as they have been handed a further two-point deduction for another breach of the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules.
They were deducted 10 points in November however, this was reduced to six points following a successful appeal.
Before this recent deduction the Toffees sat four points clear of the drop zone in 15th place however, their future in the Premier League now looks even more uncertain as they drop into 16th place behind Brentford, just two points from the drop zone.
With just seven games to play and matches against Chelsea, Liverpool and league leaders Arsenal, the Blues face a nerve wracking end to the season.
