Next Liverpool Manager Odds: Slot shortens after Ruben Amorim West Ham talks

Ruben Amorim had been considered a shoo-in to replace Jurgen Klopp.

Ruben Amorim is out to 3/1 on BetVictor to replace Jurgen Klopp in the next Liverpool manager odds market after West Ham expressed interest in recruiting the Portuguese coach.

The 39-year-old Amorim, who is closing on the Primeira Liga title with Sporting Lisbon, had been as short as 1/6 with one bookmaker for the Liverpool job less than 10 days ago.

Intriguingly, he now heads the market for the next West Ham manager as well (best price 2/1 on BetVictor), should the Hammers choose to part ways with David Moyes at the end of the season.

Who is the favourite to replace Klopp at Liverpool?

Ruben Amorim remains the bookmakers’ favourite to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool but his position at the head of the market is now challenged by Feyenoord’s Arne Slot.

The 45-year-old Dutchman was 50/1 to replace Klopp less than two weeks ago but can now be found for as short as 2/1 (best price 4/1 on Paddy Power).

Slot led Feyenoord to the 2022 UEFA Europa Conference League final and the 2022-23 Eredivisie title (the club's first in seven years), before adding the KNVB Cup this season. His time look set to finish second in this season's Eredivisie behind PSV.

Brighton's Roberto De Zerbi is the only other manager priced at 10/1 or shorter with any of the leading UK bookmakers (5/1 on Paddy Power).

De Zerbi’s contract with Brighton runs until 2026 but the 44-year-old Italian has been linked with moves to Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Barcelona this summer.

What has Ruben Amorim won as a manager?

Amorim is on the brink of a second league title with Sporting Lisbon since joining in 2020. During his time in the Portuguese capital, the former Benfica player has ended the club’s 19-year wait for a title (2020/21), won two Taca De Liga trophies and the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira in 2021.

His team are currently 10 points clear at the top of the table having played just one match more than their nearest challengers Benfica. Amorim also collected a Taca De Liga title in his short spell with Braga, where he won 10 of his 13 matches in charge before joining Sporting.

In the six seasons prior to his appointment, Sporting had finished in the top two on just one occasion. In the same six-year period, Sporting averaged 74 points in the league, while in his three full campaigns with Sporting the team have averaged 82 points.
