Next Brighton Manager Odds: The surprise rival for Kieran McKenna revealed

There is a surprise name in the mix to replace Roberto De Zerbi as Brighton manager.

Roberto De Zerbi shocked the football world yesterday by confirming that he will leave Brighton at the end of the season, sparking the Seagulls to search for a new manager.

Brighton are 10th going into De Zerbi's final match against Manchester United but can't finish any higher. While unlikely, there is a set of results today which sees them drop to 13th place.

Having signed a four-year deal in September 2022, De Zerbi led Brighton to sixth last season, the club’s highest ever top-flight finish and European qualification for the first time in their history.

Even at best prices through oddschecker, the 44-year-old Italian is rated more than 65% likely to take the vacant job at Bayern Munich.

Who is the favourite to be the next Brighton manager?

Kieran McKenna is the bookmakers' favourite to replace De Zerbi in the next Brighton manager odds market (best price 6/4), having led Ipswich back into the big time through back-to-back promotions from League One.

Ironically, McKenna's decision over whether to leave Portman Road may be influenced by the struggles of Burnley this season under Vincent Kompany, who himself has been installed as one of the favourites to replace De Zerbi (shortest price 5/1).

Splitting the two at the top of the market is the surprise name of Francesco Farioli (10/3), who assisted De Zerbi at both Benevento and Sassuolo before taking charge of Nice last summer. His team are 5th going into their last Ligue 1 game today at Lille.

It had been expected that Farioli was going to join Ajax, where he has reportedly agreed personal terms, but will the Brighton vacancy change his mind?

Meanwhile, another twist of irony has the fourth favourite to replace De Zerbi as former Seagulls manager Graham Potter, who rejected Ajax after talks last month.

Rounding off the five favourites for the Brighton job at shortest prices is Southampton's Russell Martin, who will lead the Saints in the Championship Playoff final against Leeds next weekend.
