Mourinho has been out of a job since being sacked by AS Roma in January following a poor run of form. He spent two and a half years with the Italian club before leaving them 9th in Serie A after 20 matches played in the 2023/24 season.

His contract was due to expire in June 2024 but the club moved early after a run of just one win in the last six Serie A matches. Mourinho was also sent off as Roma were knocked out of the Coppa Italia by city rivals Lazio.

Now 61, Mourinho joined Roma in 2021 and led them to the Europa Conference League title in 2022 - his first season in charge. He won 68 of his 138 matches.

Mourinho’s name was also put forward as a potential replacement for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool before the Anfield club opted for Arne Slot.

How many teams has Jose Mourinho managed?

Before his time with Roma, Mourinho has had spells in charge of FC Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Tottenham.

He started his career with short spells with Benfica and União de Leiria, giving a total of nine teams. In England, he enjoyed the most success at Chelsea.

How many trophies did Mourinho win at Chelsea?

Mourinho won three Premier League titles across his two spells in charge at Stamford Bridge, while also winning the FA Cup and three League Cups.
