Next Burnley Manager Odds: Who will replace Kompany at Turf Moor?

Speculation is rife as to who will replace Vincent Kompany as Burnley manager.

Bayern Munich are expected to confirm the appointment of Vincent Kompany as their new manager after failing to lure Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso and Germany's Julian Nagelsmann to the Allianz Arena.

Kompany's lofty reputation is somewhat surprising given his mediocre two-year spell at Anderlecht and recent Premier League relegation at Burnley, but he has remained on the radar of top clubs due to his attractive playing style.

A four-time Premier League winner as a player with Manchester City, Kompany's Burnley side passed 100 points in winning the 2022/23 Championship title in such impressive style - 10 points clear of Sheffield United.

Who is the favourite to be the next Burnley manager?

The favourites to replace Vincent Kompany as Burnley manager are former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper and William Still, who recently left Reims.

Still, who remains one of the frontrunners to replace David Wagner as Norwich manager, left Reims with immediate effect after the club's 11th-place finish in Ligue 1. He enjoyed a win ratio just short of 40% from 65 matches in charge.

Cooper, meanwhile, has been out of work since being sacked by Nottingham Forest just a few days before Christmas with the club 17th in the Premier League table after a run of five defeats from six matches.

The Welshman took the job at the City Ground in September 2021 when they were bottom of the Championship. He led them to playoff success that season, beating Huddersfield at Wembley in the final, before guiding them to a 16th place finish in the 2022/23 Premier League.

The other big name expected to be in the running at Burnley is David Moyes, who has just left West Ham after a second spell with the club.

He saved the Hammers from relegation twice over two spells before securing three top nine finishes and a first trophy in 43 years - the Europa Conference League.

Other names expected to feature once the next Burnley manager odds market opens are former Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the recently sacked Hull manager Liam Rosenior (another contender for the Norwich job) and Kompany’s assistant Craig Bellamy unless he follows the Belgian to Germany.
