There is a new name at the head of the next Sunderland manager odds market.
The search for Michael Beale's permanent successor as Sunderland manager may finally be nearing its conclusion after more than 100 days.
Beale was sacked in February and replaced on an interim basis by Mike Dodds, who led the Wearsiders to a 16th place Championship finish - just six points above the relegation zone.
Late last week, AZ Alkmaar manager Pascal Jansen emerged as the favourite to fill the role at a best price of 4/1 (implied 20% chance).
However, he is now out to a biggest 12/1 on BetVictor after local journalist James Copley reported that he is no longer in the running.
Instead, there is a more familiar face leading the way.

Who is the favourite to be the new Sunderland manager?
Liam Rosenior is the new favourite to become the next Sunderland manager at a shortest price of 5/4 on Sky Bet (implied 44% chance). He is, however, still available to back at a best price 6/4 on BetVictor.
Rosenior was sacked by Hull in May over a difference of opinion on the team's style of football, having only signed a new three-year contract in December 2023 to keep him at the club until 2026.
He left after just over 18 months in charge, having guided them to safety from a perilous looking position in November 2022 and mounted a playoff bid in 2023/24 which only failed after a 1-0 defeat at Plymouth on the final day.
The only other manager at single figure odds is Rene Maric, who currently serves as the head coach of German side Bayern Munich U19. He was 25/1 on Thursday but is now a best price 5/1 on Sky Bet.
