Next Wales Manager Odds: Who will replace Rob Page?

Wales are looking for a new manager after sacking Rob Page.

Rob Page has been sacked as Wales manager after more than three and a half years in charge.

The 49-year-old had led the Welsh National team since November 2020, first on an interim basis following Ryan Giggs' arrest before taking charge on a permanent basis in September 2022 after Giggs had resigned before his trial.

He won more matches than he lost with Wales, mixing 15 wins with 16 draws and 14 defeats in his 45 matches in charge. Page's Wales made it out of the Group Stage at Euro 2020 but fell at the first hurdle in Qatar 2022 and failed to qualify for Euro 2024.

Wales' bid to reach a third consecutive European Championship this summer ended in play-off defeat on penalties against Poland in March.

Osian Roberts has been a popular name on social media over the last few weeks, as fans speculated as to who would replace Page should he be sacked.

Roberts, who was the Wales assistant manager from 2015 to 2019 and Patrick Vieira's number two at Crystal Palace from 2021 to 2023, is currently the caretaker manager and head of development of Italian Serie B club Como.

Someone else who had been linked with the job was Steve Cooper, but he was appointed as the new head coach of Leicester City yesterday on a three-year contract.

Another whose club ambitions might stop him becoming the next Wales manager is Craig Bellamy, rated more than 66% likely to succeed Vincent Kompany as Burnley manager with some bookmakers (best price 4/5 on BetVictor).

Looking to other Welsh managers with Premier League experience leads you to the likes of Tony Pulis - out of work since December 2020 - and Mark Hughes, unattached since leaving Bradford last October, as well as Chris Coleman.

Wales’ Euro 2016 semi-final reaching manager has had largely unsuccessful spells in charge of Sunderland, Hebei China Fortune and Atromitos since leaving the Wales job in November 2017 after failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

Another intriguing option would be Stockport County manager Dave Challinor, himself an 18/1 chance for the still vacant Sunderland manager job on Sky Bet.

Challinor started his managerial career with Welsh side Colwyn Bay before taking Stockport from the National League to League One.

Finally, Rob Edwards name will be linked owing to his Welsh heritage. The Luton boss was born in Telford to Welsh parents and represented Wales 15 times as a player.
